Mystery Babylon (2)
"BUT in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall
begin to sound, the MYSTERY OF GOD should be finished... " —
Rev 10:7.
"..upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY,
BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH"
— Rev 17:5.
The mystery of iniquity, (2 Thess 2:7), vitally at work in New Testament times,
was the false religious system operating in the pagan world and beginning to
infiltrate the true Church, through which the mystery of godliness (1 Tim 3:16)
is destined to be expressed in every age.
We are fast approaching the time of the end, when, as our first text puts it,
"the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his
servants the prophets". In the build up to that divine conclusion
incredible deception and delusion are descending upon the people so that the
stage is being set for men to believe the lie at the time of antichrist —
2 Thess 2:7-12; Jn 5:43.
This attack of Satan is not upon the world, which already lies in his lap (c/f
1 John 5:19). He is after the Church—God's people—to seduce, corrupt,
deceive and destroy as many as he can. What better way than get them into the
false Babylonian religious system which according to Rev chapters 17 and 18
will be destroyed by God?
"Come out of her MY PEOPLE that ye be not partaker of her sins and
that ye receive not of her plagues" — Rev 18:4.
